Week One ~ Learning Styles

Here are my results from Index of Learning Styles Questionnaire compiled by B.A Solomon and R.M Felder. 

My results illustrate that I am well balanced over all the learning style aspects (hence only being between 1 and 3 on the scale), with some a little more predominant than others.  

I do believe I'm more of an active learner (confirmed by the 3 on the scale). I find it a lot easier to understand information if i can physically demonstrate it to myself, talk it over with peers or teachers and or applying it. This can be a disadvantage in certain subjects if I can't find a way to actively explain and apply to situations in the classroom. Therefore it's suggested that Active Learners form study groups so they can explain with peers and apply their information to future content. 

 The results above also prove that I'm a more visual learner in the classroom. I do consider this to be a fact. I can still remember illustrations that teachers presented in class when I was in primary school. This can be another disadvantage if the class is more verbal in its delivery. It is recommended that these Visual Learners seek out more visual resources on the content and even colour code lecture notes to help engage in the information on the page. 

This questionnaire was most helpful in discovering and profiling my regular, every-day learning styles.  I would highly recommend it to any of my students and fellow pre-service teachers.
